The most important thing when it comes to preparation for an adventure is safety. You can always buy and replace something you lose, but you don’t get to freeze time and go back if you find yourself in a bad situation.

We always think something bad would never happen to us, but you never know. That’s why I always travel with these products. Whether it’s wildlife or a creepy person you run into, the world can be scary.

Depending on where you are traveling to, you may or may not need this. If you ever come face to face with a bear and making noise (black bear) or playing dead (grizzly bear) doesn’t work, you’re going to need this. I can’t even imagine what I’d do in a situation if I ran into a bear in the wild. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to think straight or act fast enough to scare it away, so having this brings me an extra sense of comfort.

It’d be very rare that you’d ever have to use this, again, depending on where you are, but with its Griz Guard Holster it makes hiking with it easy.

Don’t fret about being pick pocketed with this bag around your waist. These bags are specifically designed to be anti-theft while still being cute and stylish. With so many colors to choose from, you don’t have to worry about your new fit being ruined by some bulky bag.

This slim fanny pack has RFID Blocking material, preventing your credit cards, passport, or other personal IDs from being scanned. With two metal zippers and pockets, you can store all your belongings in a secure place so you don’t have to worry about losing anything. I never used to use fanny packs, but now it’s my way to go, from a night out to a concert, or just going to a shop. I tend to lose things, or leave things behind when I’m distracted (so far this year I’ve left behind my wallet twice, with every credit card I own in it, insurance, license, etc.) so traveling with any kind of bag that clips to you has become a lifesaver. Oh, and it’s water resistant!

Whistles can be more handy than you’d think. If you’re hurt or get lost and you don’t have any service, this loud survival whistle can help you get others’ attention. The sound can be heard over a mile away. It’d also come in handy if you’re attempting to scare a black bear away from you, or if someone has approached you and isn’t leaving you alone, you’ll draw attention to yourself and that person.

With an adjustable, reflective lanyard and clip, it’s easy to attach to whatever you’re wearing, or to a hiking bag. Whether you’re hiking, camping, backpacking, or out on the water, this emergency whistle is there in case anything goes wrong.

Keep microplastics, chlorine, organic chemical matter, sand, dirt, and cloudiness out of your drinking water. This is a great water bottle to have if you’re traveling somewhere that doesn’t provide constant access to safe drinking water.

The membrane microfilter is made to last up to 4,000 liters. Additionally, the activated carbon filter lasts for up to 100 liters of water. This product meets the protocols of the US Environmental Protection Agency and NSF International/ANSI.

I’ve had one of these on my keychains for years. There’s so many brands to choose from in terms of pepper spray keychains, but this one is my favorite for how small it is. It conveniently hooks on to any lanyard or keyring without being too bulky or noticeable. There’s a safety cap so you won’t accidentally spray yourself, and when used, it can spray up to five feet away.

I love this portable door lock. It’s easy to use and it’s multi-sized so it slides to fit most doors. It’s like an extra deadbolt. There’ve been a few hotels I’ve been to in Arizona that haven’t had that extra door lock, and that feeling of uncomfort as I’d go to bed led me to finding this product.

What you get is all you need. There’s no nails or screws, you simply just align the medal part with the hole on the door jam, close the door, and connect the red handle to the lock. It’s made with heavy-duty steel so you can be assured that it won’t be easy for anyone trying to break in. It only takes seconds to set up and seconds to take down, and it’s small enough to fit right inside your purse.
